Em uma abordagem menos literal, eu usaria "uso atual" por se tratar do estado do dispositivo vestível durante o momento do uso, o que poderia indicar ao usuário se ele está no corpo, se está ativado, se possui Bluetooth sincronizado e assim por diante.

Um exemplo disso é esse fone de Xiaomi que traz essa frase com mais contexto:

"Highly sensitive capacitive in-ear wearing detection is used to detect wearing status. While listening to music, pause by taking out the earphones and resume by putting them back in. Enjoy the music from the moment the earphones are in place and never miss any of your favorite parts."

Ou seja, note que são vários tipos de estados ou usos para o dispositivo. Se este for o caso para o aparelho cujo manual você está traduzindo, talvez manter uma localização baseada no uso do dispositivo acabe ajudando os usuários-finais a entender melhor do que se trata esse "wearing status" e ainda refletimos bem o sentido.
