English term or phrase: 3 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
Hello Everyone,

I am translating a book that talks about Ketogenic Diet and mostly are recipes.

How would you translate pounds in Portuguese? Kilos?

For example:

3 pounds of boneless skinless chicken thighs

neutral  Nick Taylor: While technically correct, due to the variance of the chicken pieces I think it would be difficult to measure the weight with such exactitude. Personally I would round up to 1 and a half kilos. After all what's a thigh or two here or there. - ;-)

15 sobrecoxas de frango grandes, desossadas e sem pele

Explanation:
A site says that the average weight of a large chicken thigh (sobrecoxa grande) is 100g. This means that 3 pounds-weight would be approximately 15 chicken thighs. (Exactly it would be 13.6 thighs, but following the nicktaylorite philosophy, 'what's a thigh here or there')
(Note: If the recipe calls for thighs only it would be sobrecoxas, but in Brazil it is more common to serve 'coxa e sobrecoxa' which is thighs and drumsticks mixed. Supermarkets usually sell this combination, probably because 'coxa' is cheaper than 'sobrecoxa')
