hexanas/hexanos Explanation: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hexanos&lr=lang_pt&as_qdr=... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2020-10-22 09:17:21 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2016-01/documents... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2020-10-22 09:19:32 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Chemical and Physical Properties of the Hexane Molecule Hexane is an alkane hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)4CH3. The "hex" prefix refers to its six carbons, while the "ane" ending indicates that its carbons are connected by single bonds. Hexane isomers are largely unreactive, and are frequently used as an inert solvent in organic reactions because they are very non-polar. They are also common constituents of gasoline and glues used for shoes, leather products and roofing. Additionally, it is used in solvents to extract oils for cooking and as a cleansing agent for shoe, furniture and textile manufacturing. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2020-10-22 09:22:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Application Note No. 360/2019 - Buchistatic1.buchi.com › sites › default › files › AN_360_20... 2/7. 1. Reference: hexa-compounds Reference information: I have looked up the author of this recommendation and found this website: https://www.testamericainc.com/services-we-offer/services-we... I think this author refers to testing substances/products for the amount of dioxin/furan concentrations. In order to calculate this, two of the substances that are measured are the dioxin and furan homologues Hexachlorodibenzo-p-dioxins and Hexachlorodibenzofurans - in other words, "hexa-compounds". It seems to me that this recommendation states that with the ZB-dioxin, when a product is analysed, superior resolution is achieved for 2,3,7,8-TCDD and 2,3,7,8-TCDF while at the same time, chromatography results for the hexa-compounds are better than previous results. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2020-10-22 09:41:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Liz, thanks for your comment; this was not meant as an answer, rather as an indication of the meaning - "hexes" in this sense is also a non-official term, I think. I think "hexanes/hexenes" may be too limited here, as I think this concerns the hexachlorodibenzo-p-dioxins and hexachlorodibenzofurans. Analogous to "hexa compounds", if you look for "tetra compounds", apart from references to Tetra as a brand, in the book "Lead in the marine environment" you will find an example of the meaning I think "hexes" has here: This may account for the different toxicity of the tri and tetra compounds although the details of the mechanism are quite unknown at present. Also, try searching for "penta compounds" which seem to occur more often in texts. |
