.....Yes, your ear canals change shape. I am a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist. In other words I fit Hearing Aids and Custom Monitors and I also manufacture hearing aids. When you are a child and even a teenager we see a constant change in the ear canal as you grow. As an adult we see it change with a fluctuation in weight. Even a minimal change in weight such as a few pounds can have an effect on the seal. Especially people that have "carrot" shaped ear canals that offer little retention. So getting them dipped or coated by the manufacture you purchased them from or at your local hearing aid dealer will help to maintain fit.

Se se trata de uma estrutura anatómica, então seria /tuba auditiva/ ou /trompa de eustáquio/ - ver https://www.infopedia.pt/$trompa-de-eustaquio ou https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuba_auditiva e, em inglês, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eustachian_tube (http://longmonthearing.com/discussion-eustachian-tube-proble... (ou canais auditivos) MAS todas as referências que li a respeito de "Ear tubes" referem-se a "tubos de ventilação", não encontro nada que diga que são estruturas anatómicas.

Considerando que "the tubes in her ears grew", imaginei que fosse algo que cresce à medida que a menina cresce, conforme o texto. Isto implicaria em uma estrutura da anatomia e não mecânica. Se for o caso, em PT são canais e não tubos. Aí, só o Maucet para dizer o que faz mais sentido.

Mas canal auditivo é "ear canal", não "ear tube"... nunca ouvi ninguém chamar dessa forma.
Além disso, praticamente todas as imagens de "hearing tubes" referem-se a dispositivos, e não a estruturas anatômicas:

Entendo que o tube esteja relacionado ao Bone Anchored Hearing Aid: quanto mais a criança cresce, maior pode ser o tubo de ventilação usado internamente no ouvido, melhorando a capacidade auditiva da criança.

Mas... é só minha opinião.

Eu acho que o Mário e a Bianca estão certos. Vi agora uma passagem no texto em que fica mais claro que o termo 'tubes' parece referir-se a uma estrutura natural do ouvido: "Mikaelly's inner hearing tubes may have grown as she has grown and thus the improvement in her hearing"
