O instalatie de racire cu zona tampon este destul de simpla . Pe o parte a spatiului este pozitionat un perete permeabil pentru aer care constă din diferite materiale (în funcţie de producător), care vor fi irigate cu apă la joasa presiune . Pe partea opusă sunt cateva aerisiri (de obicei ventilatoare mari de viteza mica ) ce expulzeaza aerului în exterior. Prin intermediul presiunii scăzută din interiorul cald, aerul uscat va intra prin plăcuţele umezite şi va fi umidificat şi astfel răcit."
