A pneumatic conveying pressure vessel (PV) has the option to run a ”Dead Blow”, where it initiates one cycle of the pressure vessel without opening the sand in feed butterfly valve. This is used to empty the PV if it has been switched on with sand already inside, as starting a normal cycle will add a new full batch of sand and overfill the PV.
