it's a diesel thing, term comes from mechanical rack w/physical stop, and yes the fuel stop is commonly higher than the engine advertised rating. This is a requirement in some marine applications, I believe (10% overload for 1 hour in 12 hours, in case of emergency).

După ce m-am mai documentat aș spune: „putere maximă prin limitarea alimentării” (with the fuel limited so that this power cannot be exceeded), dar mi se pare prea lungă expresia.

agree  Augustin Dragoste: Așa este definiția, numai numele de putere efectivă nu este corespunzător! Puterea efectivă este puterea livrată în mod obișnuit de un motor. Aici e vorba de puterea livrată de un motor în situația unei suprasarcini și pentru un timp limită: fuel stop!
