Partea din spate care pre vremuri semăna ca un cocoş se numeste cock sau hammer. Când e trasă înapoi , pistolul este "cocked" - gata de a trage. Decocking este operaţia de a relaxa aceasta piesă (şi arcul care o poate lansa) spre poziţia normală. Lever este pârghie in general dar in cazul ăsta ar fii manetă. Propun "maneta de desarmare".
