English term or phrase: bittersweet
"Reading a book about martyrs is a bittersweet experience; all the ideals they stood for are undermined by their inevitable demise."

The term "bittersweet" can occur in an idiom about a taste that describes emotions:
"Meeting my father after so many years left a bittersweet taste in my mouth."

There is no direct translation into Serbian as far as I know. What could be used instead?

I have encountered the word mostly in prose and poetry, although it can appear in any text that is implicating an emotional reaction. The target audience would likely be one that is sensitive to linguistic subtleties. The artistic meaning should be conserved as much as possible.

Hvala. :)
Notes to answerer
Asker: Pozdrav. :) Lično retko viđam (npr. slatko-gorak minut prisećanja) i ne čini mi se adekvatnim u prevodu. Možda grešim.
