A large square of heavy canvas fitted with lines to allow it to be drawn under the hull of a ship where it is damaged. The pressure of the seawater holds it tight against the ship and greatly reduces the inflow of water.

Prodorna ponjava, ili Makarovka, je formacijsko sredstvo za sprečavanje prodora vode kroz otvor na trupu broda. Izrađuju se od vodonepropusnih materijala, a nameštaju se sa spoljne strane trupa preko otvora nastalog na trupu pomoću dve prodorne uzice. Pričvršćuju se na palubi pomoću konopa, i ne mogu se upotrebiti ukoliko ivice otvora nisu okrenute prema unutrašnjosti trupa.
