Poruchy správania charakterizuje opakované a pretrvávajúce, asociálne, agresívne alebo vyzývavé konanie. Také správanie môže vážne narušiť veku primerané sociálne požiadavky. Ide teda o horšie počínanie, ako je obyčajné detské huncútstvo alebo pubertálna rebélia a má ráz trvalého správania (aspoň šesť mesiacov).(...)
Príklady správania, ktoré je podkladom pre diagnózu, zahŕňajú nadmerné bitkárstvo a terorizovanie, krutosť voči iným ľuďom a zvieratám, ťažké poškodzovanie majetku, podpaľačstvo, krádeže, opakované luhanie, záškoláctvo a utekanie z domu, nezvyčajne časté a veľké výbuchy zlosti a neposlušnosť. Spomínané správanie, ak je dostatočne výrazné, postačuje na diagnózu, ale jednotlivé asociálne činy nestačia.
