11. Experimental Methods for the Determination of Sorption Coefficients 11.1. Batch Equilibration (BE ) A known weight of sorbent ~soil or sediment! is placed in a vial with a measured volume of solution containing a known concentration of the solute in water ~distilled or containing known concentration of an electrolyte, NaCl, CaCl2, etc., to simulate the ionic strength of soil solution and to improve phase separation!. The first procedure seems more reliable because it takes into account the possibility of loss of solute by volatilization, degradation or by other processes causing disappearence or nonrecovery of the solute from the measurement system.528 No differences were found between the two procedures with napropamide and lindane sorption by soil.529 The Kd or Kf value are calculated using Eqs. ~3! and ~4!. Often labeled ~14C or 3H! compounds are used and their concentration is measured by liquid scintillation counting. However, much care is necessary in using radio-labeled compounds, especially when sorption coefficients are extremely high. Their purity should be checked accurately before use to avoid errors in measurement of the aqueous concentration after sorption. This can be termed the ‘‘standard batch’’ method.
The difference between "standard batch method" and "standard batch equilibration procedure" shows that it is not about "batch methods" as industrial production processes per se, but rather it is about "standard batches". David's link is just an explanation of what the "metodo discontinuo" is, it is not related to whether or not we're interpreting "standard batch method" correctly in the given context. Hello That is your opinion. As you can read the text you'll find the term is used with and without quotation marks (and don't understand why is so important to the translation) Procedure and Method could be different, however, in this case the difference seems negligible. Indeed, I'm in favour of David link's explanation. And should be very difficult that from my side ask again batch's related terms (if David chooses to help answering the remaining question, would be nice). Thank you very much.
Well in that case with the "" on " "standard batch" method", I think it's a method which describes how to prepare a standard batch ("método de lotes estándares"), and not a "standard" way of performing the batch method ("metodo discontinuo estandar") - ??is there a non-standard way of performing the batch method?? Obviously not.
Look at "standard batch equilibration procedure"; from that, and other examples, we can see it is clear that "standard batch" go together, whereas "batch method" do not necessarily. That's because the expression " "standard batch" method" refers to how to prepare a standard batch or "el método de lotes estándares".

If indeed the "" are used in the original source text then it can't refer to "método discontinuo estándar" because that would be a standard "batch method". The quotation marks strongly imply that it is a method for preparing a standard batch ("método de lotes estándar") as opposed to a standardised version of a batch method ("método discontinuo estándar"). PLEASE COULD you answer this important question, it has a lot of bearing on the correct translation. I think David's suggestion may be a misinterpretation of the source.

With the standard batch method the upper limit of sorption data obtainable is dictated by affinity of the sorbent for the compound, compound water solubility, and sorbent/solution ratio. When the sorbent has a great affinity for the compound ~.95% adsorption! it becomes difficult to generate an adsorption isotherm, since even the maximum solution concentration would be greatly depleted. Consequently, it would be impossible to obtain adsorption data at or near the solubility limit of the compound using this technique. Thus, Bowman536 proposed another method which allows us to extend the isotherm to values of equilibrium aqueous concentrations closer to the water solubility of the compound under examination. Well, indeed is obvious I misunderstand batch for lote or discontinuo (thats why I asked it). Indeed I'm biased toward to translate it as discontinuo and the link of David support that idea. I think that lotes or discontinuo are different. Indeed I'm not a chemist.
