I think you should keep the hyphen with meta also, I htink it refers to sulfonamides which are substitued with a ureido group in meta position. Check the table below this page; the synomims are very useful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfonamide_(medicine) You need to keep the "meta" with a hyphen since that marks the positions 1,3 in the benzene/phenil group, as you know. I am thinking that they probably assimilated the position 1 and 3 (meta) from cyclic compounds to the position 1 and 3 for the sulphonamide group.
