Me estoy volviendo loca buscando la traducción de este término. Aparece en el manual de un servidor.
Sé que "IO" se refiere a "E/S" (entrada/salida), pero desconozco la traducción de "Boat" en este contexto. Una frase de ejemplo:

The IO Box allows you to connect one PCI-Express slot in the host to an IO Boat, which has six additional, hot-plug-capable PCI-Express or PCI-X slots. Each IO Box can support up to two IO Boats (either PCI-Express or PCI-X), independently connected to the same host.

Saludos!
Tengo amplios conocimientos de computación, ensamble de equipos y redes.
En este caso, el término se refiere a una tarjeta que puede ser conectada a la tarjeta PCI-Express y ampliar la capacidad de ésta para conectar 6 tarjetas adicionales.
Algo similar a lo que puedes ver en los puertos usb frontales de una desktop. Aunque ves los conectores, internamente es solo una pequeña tarjetita con varios puertos usb y que a traves de un cable se conecta a la tarjeta madre del cpu.
Asi que puedes traducirlo como Tarjeta de ampliación o expansión de E/S
