Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation
English term or phrase: dispatchable capacity

Although hydro-electricity generation is variable, we assume that hydro and biomass are run at constant rates, functioning as a small amount of baseload power.
Hydropower (run-of-river and stored hydro) is 3% of total electricity generation in Germany.
While hydro does have some ***dispatchable capacity***, the impact on the broader electricity system is not very large.

Agradezco desde ya las sugerencias.

Explanation:
I'm sure this is the meaning, but only confidence '3' while I look for some reliable references.

If hydropower only accounts for 3% of the nation's electric supply needs, averaged over a long period, it's clear that there's little room to manoeuvre in the drawing of energy from these resources to cover peaks in consumer demand. If the reservoirs are momentarily empty (early Spring), or the rivers have run dry (mid-winter), there's now't to 'dispatch'.

...While hydro does have some ***dispatchable capacity***,..

Explanation:

Sería la forma normal de expresarlo,

Dispatchable generation refers to sources of electricity that can be dispatched at the request of power grid operators; that is, generating plants that can be turned on or off, or can adjust their power output on demand.[1]

This may be contrasted with certain types of base load generation capacity, such as nuclear power, which may have limited capability to maneuver or adjust their power output, or variable renewable energy sources such as wind power which cannot be controlled by operators.[2] The time periods in which dispatchable generation plant may be turned on or off may vary, and be considered in time frames of minutes or hours. The 1,728 MW Dinorwig pumped power station, though, can reach full output in 16 seconds.[3]

Sorry di al Enter antes de tiempo... ;-) aquí la propuesta:

..While hydro does have some ***dispatchable capacity***, the impact on the broader electricity system is not very large...
