In October, the three of us were transferred to a grain growing State farm in the Primorska-Achtarskiy region, close to the Sea of Azov, to take tractor driving courses.
We were settled in a hostel located on a farmstead of that grain growing farm.
It was a small settlement with a large repair work-shop, dining hall and general store

No tiene que ver Primorska (el litoral esloveno), ni con Primorsko en Bulgaria, sino con Primorsko-Ajtarsk, en Rusia, al lado este del mar de Azov.

Aunque diga "region", creo que conviene llamarlo "raión", que es la división territorial oficial, y que suele traducirse "distrito". La palabra "región" suele reservarse para la división superior, o "krai", en este caso de Krasnodar. Las "raiones" datan de la década de 1920s, así que ya existía el término en la época a la que se refiere el texto.
