Dear colleagues,

I am unable to find a passing term for the expression "elevation of sentiment" in the sentence below. They speak about important historical male personalities. What would you suggest?

ST: "nearly all these, at least those who are married, have had the good fortune to unite themselves with women who are either their equals or superiors, in not in education – in goodness, elevation of sentiment and natural talent”.

TT: “casi todos ellos, al menos los que están casados, han tenido la buena fortuna de desposarse con mujeres que son iguales o superiores a ellos, si no en educación, sí en bondad, grandiosidad sentimental y talento natural”.

Spanish translation:elevación de sentimientos

Explanation:
La frase original debe haber sido escrita en inglés supongo (ella era escocesa creo?), pero existe traducción del libro al español. Aunque no encontré el libro en español en Internet, sí encontré al menos dos referencias serias que citan esta frase (y usan "elevación de sentimientos"). Por razones de buena referencia para el lector español que quisiera encontrar más al respecto - y porque el término no es peor que otros - yo usaría "elevación de sentimientos." Al fin y al cabo se trata de una expresión arcaica tanto en inglés como en español.
