I'm translating a relationship agreement and I've stumbled across the following sentence:

"[...] unless the type of contract does not attract distance selling protections."

I'm really confused as to what "attract" means in this context, and can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Any ideas?

que el contrato pueda estar sujeto a

Explanation:
"[...], a menos que el tipo de contrato pueda estar sujeto a disposiciones de protección a la venta a distancia."

Habría que ver el contexto. Podría ser estar sujeto a, tener el amparo de, enfrentar disposiciones de... Es decir, no me queda claro si es algo que pueda operar a favor o en contra del contrato.
