The literal translation of the sentence a day for giving back, has some limitation because doesn't express the meaning in the cultural and background frame. Besides it could sound rather rude. If you feel confortable using the above explanation change the word recogida for recoleccion. In the Americas it could have a diferent concept.

Dia de la caridad, appeals more to the culture, it has an explanation in itself. In the ES language it could sound rather powerful, but in SP gives acomplete explanation as if you were going to use it in a brochure or any other form of advertising. Of course include an explanation or list of goods you want to recieve.

E.g Dia de la Caridad

Done/Traiga sus viveres y jeguetes para los ninos sin hogar (pobres)
