Asker: Gracias Maryán, es lo que había pensado, pero tiene sólo 456 entradas en google y si refino a páginas en español me da sólo 231 entradas. Creo que debe existir otro término.

I found the following for "editor académico": http://www.google.it/search?hl=it&q="editor académico" (.es)... (vs http://www.google.it/search?hl=it&q="redactor cultural" (.es... for "redactor cultural"), hence I am not so sure the meaning is the same as the required one (i.e., a person who is responsible for cultural aspects of a given publication - obviously, a Medical Doctor, in this case), also because "editor (Esl) = publisher (Eng)", and "académico = academic (above all, said of official studies made, titles and degrees obtained, and so on)"...

I think the first, double option may be safer, and it actualli is well supported by links in Google...
