Estoy traduciendo un informe médico de un niño de 8 años:

"The patient was diagnosed by you with recurrent episodes of palpitations/tachycardia and tehrefore referred to us for a complete cardiovascular evaluation. The episodes are characterized as having a sudden onset and termination, persistent, associated with facial flushing, ear erythema, occasional headaches, perioral cyanosis and nausea. The episodes are not associated with chest pain, syncope, diaphoresisor blurred vision. The patient was seen by multiple pediatric and adult cardiologists in Venezuela and diagnosed with atrial tachycardia **versus** paroxysmal junctional reentrant tachycardia."

¿Este "versus" significa que se trata de dos posibles diagnósticos?

Yo creo que, dado que el paciente ha pasado de manos de un médico (al que va dirigido el texto, supongo) a otro grupo de médicos de venezuela, el diagnóstico que menciona primero debe ser el del último grupo de médicos, y el otro diagnostico es el del primer médico. De ahí el versus.
Creo que la traducción al español debería transformar la oración entera:

El paciente ha sido diagnostico con XXX, en vez de YYY, el primer diagnostico realizado.

Creo además que la intención es sólo resaltar ambos diagnosticos, y no poner ninguno sobre el otro. Por tanto el en vez de es inclusivo no exclusivo.

A todo esto, es sólo una opinión. En cosas médicas prefiero no poner la mano en el fuego. Espero que hablen los expertos. Pero espero que te ayude a decidir.
