Explanation:
En la jerga dental norteamericana un "denturist" es un mecánico dental/protésico/técnico dental que trabaja en boca de pacientes fabricándoles prótesis, una actividad reservada por ley en muchos estados de la Unión americana a Odontólogos con título y por lo tanto ilegal cuando es ejercida por un técnico dental (en esos estados). El término tiene una connotación peyorativa. En otros estados y en el Canadá ya hay una profesionalización de esa actividad y existen organizaciones que trabajan en su defensa, legalización e imagen pública. El "denturist" certificado tiene actividades muy circunscritas por la ley.
