Because flasks are ordinarily calibrated on a “to deliver” basis, they must be “wet down” before using. Immediately prior to use, fill the volumetric flask(s) or graduate with water. The water should be at the reference temperature of the product being tested. Fill the flask(s) with water to a point slightly below the top graduation on the neck. The flask should be emptied in 30 seconds (± 5 seconds).
