Se trata de unas cartas con partes militares del siglo 19, concretamente de la Guerra de la Independencia española de 1812. Se trata de una transcripción de las cartas manuscritas originales, que tuve ocasión de ver y finalmente transcribió otra persona.

Supongo que el término hace referencia a un cuarto de alguna unidad de peso porque habla de "Fish", pero no estoy seguro. ¿Quizá 3.000 cuartos de libra de pescado?

"My Brother has sailed for Peniscola, with powder, and musket balls, and of the 3000 Q[uar]t[er]s Fish, advised in my former dispatches, only 1700 Q[uar]t[er]s having been landed at Valencia, 300 Q[uar]t[er]s have been sent up to Peniscola, 500 applied to the Castle, and 300 delivered to Gen[era]l Roche at his request for the division under his command, which distribution I hope your Excellency will approve.
The Invencible, has arrived here from Cataluna [sic.], on the 19th ins[tan]t Capt[ai]n Adam dined [sic.] with Gen[era]l Lacy at Reus, where he had his Head Quarters with 6000 men and meant to attack Tarragona as yesterday.

consul for Valencia at this time, and afterwards for Catalonia. He
distinguished himself from 1808 to 1814, in encouraging the Spaniards to
resist the invasion of Napoleon; and his name occurs repeatedly in the
Duke of Wellington's Dispatches, recently published, as also in the
first and fourth volumes of Napoleon's Peninsular War. He died in Madrid
in 1825, in the prime of life. His youngest brother was British consul
for Caraccas, and afterwards for Riga.]

A letter from Peter Paul Dobree, (1782-1825), who was born in Guernsey and became Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge University in 1823. In 1811 he had visited "Don Pedro" (Peter Carey) Tupper, the Guernsey-born and immensely wealthy British consul in Valencia.

**¹ For the activities of the Peter Carey Tupper in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars, particularly the humanitarian intervention he made with the Spanish junta in Valencia in 1808 to prevent further massacre of French civilian prisoners, for which he received the title of Baron Socorro [Socorro meaning "aid"] from the Spanish government, see Chapter XIII of Sir John Carr's Descriptive travels in the southern and eastern parts of Spain and the Balearic isles, in the year 1809, London: 1811. There is a copy in the Priaulx Library; the illustration of Cadiz is taken from this book.**
