English term or phrase: Career military officer
I am currently translating a speech on cyber security and the author explains that besides being a scientist he's also a military career officer (he has the military rank of General and received his commission after completing the US Army ROTC). I don't know if it can be translated just as "oficial de ejército" or if it refers to some different kind of officer like an "oficial de reserva". I would really appreciate your help.

'oficial militar de carrera'
Explanation:
