I apologize for the inappropriate use of disagrees in this question. I did not use the disagrees as a form of highlighting my answer, nor was it my intention to discredit my colleagues. In fact, respectful and friendly interaction with you, my colleagues, is perhaps my principal reason for participating. I misunderstood the use of disagrees, thinking that one should disagree when of the opinion that an answer would lead to misunderstanding. Since "thick" and "thin", in the field of philosophy, are terms as precise and technical as are legal and engineering terms in those respective fields, I believed that I was actually doing what was appropriate. I did not take the personal feelings into account, as I should have. I was overzealous about the opportunity to contribute in an area which is dear to my heart, as is philosophy. But most important to me is my relationship with all of you--and I say this with all sincerity--I am here for the fraternity and sense of belonging that a forum such as this can provide. I feel badly to have given the impression that I was discrediting anyone--please accept my apologies--I really do want to be accepted into the group. Sorry. |
