I am looking for an exact translation for this term. It appears in an operating manual for a printer, and in this passage it describes its componentes.

Context: "Job Sender: Code for sending JLYT to the frame-brokers. These live on the storage-units. Job-senders interact with the file system and the database."

Additional context: "(Frame brokers buffer the frames to be printed prior to sending them to the PECs, so this information can be helpful to diagnose issues when large jobs are in the system and have consumed system memory.)"

Por lo que he visto por internet, se trata de un término poco extendido. Yo, desde luego, nunca me lo he encontrado traduciendo textos en este campo. Me parece que lo utiliza la empresa Hewlett Packard. Por ejemplo, he encontrado la siguiente página que lo menciona (http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2009/GSBatPrint... Supongo que tú también la encontrarías.

No sé si existe un término ya acuñado para "frame broker", pero, en informática, "broker" normalmente se traduce como "agente". Creo que se ajusta bastante bien a la idea expresada en la definición que nos aportas. En este caso concreto, se trataría del programa que se encarga de administrar la imagen almacenada. En cuanto a la traducción de "frame", depende del cliente. En Microsoft lo traducen como "marcos" o "tramas".

Añado la definición de "broker" según el glosario de Microsoft:
