Hola,
Traduzco un artículo sobre el diseñador Martin Margiela. Y me encontrado con la siguiente frase “cue the tap of a polished red fingernail” no entiendo el significado de “cue the tap”. El diseñador es bastante excéntrico así que podría ser cualquier cosa. Dejo más contexto:

IF EVER THE NOTION of a status symbol was subverted, it was with the birth of the blank white Maison Martin Margiela label. Conceived one evening in 1988 at a little bar in Mantova, Italy, when power dressing was at its height, the idea was that only those in the know would be able to determine its significance, or even be able to tell if a garment was “designer” in the first place. And what — cue the tap of a polished red fingernail — was the point of that?

Explanation:
No sé muy bien cómo expresarlo, pero "cue" se emplea aquí en su sentido teatral (o cinematográfico), como si fuera un guión. "Cue the tap of a polished red fingernail" quiere decir que en este momento tenemos que imaginarlo como una escena de cine, en la que el personaje imaginario que dice "And what was the point of that" —que sería una mujer elegante con las uñas rojas, el tipo de mujer que viste así— golpetea en la mesa con una uña para expresar su irritación. Así que "cue the tap" quiere decir que este es el "cue" para que se realice esta acción.
