Explanation:
Es bastante común en Europa ofrecer alojamiento en castillos, cascos de estancia / rancho, o lugares que han sido (o son) propiedad de príncipes o miembros de la nobleza, que así logran contribuír a los enormes gastos que demanda su mantenimiento. Creo que este es el sentido.

Coincido totalmente con la explicación de Robert.
Con frecuencia he visto el término "residencias históricas" en materiales turísticos.

En este país, los B&Bs, frecuentemente se encuentran localizados en residencias históricas o granjas que se han convertido en lugares para alojamiento mas pequeños y exclusivos, (y en ocasiones bastante caros)
