Hino City
Hino City is situated 30 km west of Tokyo. And has about 170 000 inhabitants. The city is famous for high public awareness regarding the environment. The City was founded in 1965. The representatives from the City felt honored by this visit from Swedish side. Their image of Sweden was beautiful nature and advanced welfare systems. Seven representatives from the citizens participated in the meeting: a housewife, representatives for the citizen’s movement involved in environment ordinance, a retired manager involved in waste management issues, a representative for life work environmental education inspired by the natural step movement, a representative from the environmental municipality committe – a network of communities. The city symbol is the King Fisher bird representing green areas and clean water.

disagree  Jan Sundström: Japan har en mer raffinerad indelning av administrativa nivåer än Sverige, och gör skillnad på olika storlekar (jfr town/city på engelska). Eftersom det finns mindre städer som också heter Hino, men bara en "City" är det tydligare att låta det stå kvar.
