Burada "su kemeri" demek bana pek doğru gelmiyor çünkü sarnıç sadece kemeri besleyemez. Kemer, vadi gibi bir doğal yapıyı aşmak için inşa edilen nispeten kısa bir geçiş yeridir. Kemerden başka ve muhtemelen kemerden çok daha uzun olan su kanalı beslenmelidir ki su tüketileceği yere ulaşabilsin.
