مقطار لفظ مقطر سے تکلا ہے جس کے معانی "قطرہ قطرہ کر کے ٹپکایا اور صاف کیا ہوا" کے ہیں۔ لفظ فلٹر کا اردو ترجمہ میں نے مقطار کیا ہے۔

اب اگر مندرجہ بالا لفظ کی وضاحت پر نظر دوڑائی جائے تو یہ بات سامنے آتی ہے کہ ایک ایسا آٓلہ ہے جو صرف مخصوص اور مطلوب درجہ کی فریکوائنسی کو گزرنے دیتا ہے اور باقی سب کو روک دیتا ہے۔

اسی چیز کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے میں نے اس پوری اصطلاح کا ترجمہ " مقطار برائے مخصوص درجہ فریکوئنسی " تجویز کیا ہے۔
