My first thought, too, was that G and I are, respectively, just to the right of F and U. This could be a typo or, depending on CONTEXT, a kind of graphic euphemism - like saying "sugar" instead of "shit".

Hmm, Flann O'Brien tended to use more expressions deriving from Irish (as he was a fluent speaker) so rather than saying "shit-faced" he'd probably have used "cack-faced" (cac > Irish for shit). Looked it up and see Beckett uses "cack-faced" in Watt though I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere. Here's another Dublin reference: Terenure College is nicknamed "The Gick", particularly in a rugby context. "Gick" is Irish slang for excrement.[10] The nickname is derived from the rhyming of "Terenure" and "manure"

"shite" is far more commonly used and widespread than "gick". Not even sure that "gick" has travelled outside Dublin in fact as I've used it a few times and people haven't understood. And no, it is really used for pigeon as gickna and in a few other isolated cases just meaning shit but milder. Otherwise we use Shite as you do it seems. Examples: That's just pure shite. He's a real shite. It's a load of shite. I can't deal with this shite. It's a shite job etc. Almost fogetting a favourite collocation of "shite and onions". And "right little shite" would be used for a brat of a kid, not for an adult.

Is the Irish gick also used like shite in Yorkshire?

You often hear expressions like someone being called "a reet little shite" - albeit not as common as "reet little bugger", which isn't considered to be a swearword at all.

Well spotted — though of course I can't imagine what word you might be thinking of!
But that is certainly a typical mistake I make, with hand/eye/brain co-ordination problems, typing the immediately adjacent letter, almost always to the same side.

I'm also almost certain you're right, Yvonne, but the adjacent keys for a typo make it even more obscure.
With a little more context, perhaps something like this:
"A right (reet) load of gick (shite) you are ('an all)" Yorkshire dialect in brackets.

Please give full context, at the very least a full sentence but preferably several. This looks like a typo. Gick is slang for shit but would NEVER be followed by YOU as here.
