the wires are bundled together Explanation: Not just because this makes sense here, but also because wires are one of things that can be grouped together into bundles, normally then tied to prevent them from separating again (also a bundle of letters, a bundle of sticks etc - other uses are more figurative, such as bundle of laughs). |

Nerve wireS which are bundled together. Explanation: I would think there is a "nerve wire" connecting each pigment layer to the brain and these are bundled together. Bundled altogether, they form the optic nerve. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 31 mins (2009-03-25 15:36:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Make that "all together." |
