English term or phrase: box out
"The Subcontractor will provide all necessary slab openings, as incorporated into the coordinated design. Should M&E contractor request extra slab openings...... The subcontractor will provide all necessary walls, columns and beam openings as incorporated in coordinated design.
The subcontractor will provide necessary boxes-out to create these openings.
If any of the boxes out are bigger than the ones from the drawing, the subcontractor will have to make them good at his own cost.
In case any boxes out have been forgotten or added later, any coring, hacking or cutting will not be done without approval....."

I was assuming these were formworks for creating openings in walls, but how can they be forgotten or added later than?

Help please!

The point if, you text says that if the original box-outs were forgotten or not big enough, then they will have to be 'made good', or else "coring, hacking or cutting" will have to be done — in other words, if the holes weren't left, they'll have to be cut afterwards!

neutral  B D Finch: Without the accent in English. However, I think it is safer to stick to the term "box-out" because of the framing/formwork used.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: think "box-outs" better and answered already in disc.

Block out- To install a box or barrier within a foundation wall to prevent the concrete from entering an area. For example, foundation walls are sometimes "blocked" in order for mechanical pipes to pass through the wall, to install a crawl space door, and to depress the concrete at a garage door location.
