It is definitely used in the UK, and I'm pretty sure in the US too, judging by the usage one finds in US films. Note, though, that you may not see it on a 'brass plate' — it is something often used to describe this kind of professional partnership, but not invariably used as part of the actual name.
What makes it a 'practice' is when it is a group of what are classed as professionals — i.e. in medicine etc., legal, and architects etc.
Regarding the US / GB question, I found some 10 million Google hits associating "legal practice" with "attorneys" — the use of the latter word is likely to favour US results, and indeed, even on the first page, there were a goodly number of specifically US results. |
