English term or phrase: When it comes to try it
I know the meaning is more or less clear, but I would to know your opinions, please. Does "when it comes to try it" sound natural to you? I think there's something missing. I don't want to say it in order not to affect the outcome. Thank you.
Context
"In English classrooms, TTT (teacher talking time) should be less than STT (students talking time). When it comes to try it, students become speechless."

Selected answer:when they try it
Explanation:
I think the meaning is clear, though it's clumsily expressed. They mean "when it comes to trying it". When told to speak more than the teacher, the students don't know what to say, because they're used to the teacher doing all the talking.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: I also think the meaning is clear. When it's their turn to (try to) speak the students remain silent (rather than "speechless"). I presume these are language classes

When it comes to their turn

Explanation:
Bearing in mind that this is an English class, I would imagine that the teacher explains part of the lesson/gives examples and the students then need to practice this in conversation. The talking would switch back and forth between the teacher and students, but when it comes to the students' turn to speak, they are speechless.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: I already said most of this when agreeing with previous answer. "speechless" is not correct here and why assume it's an English class?
