English term or phrase: which verb to use in this context
I have the problem with the verb remind again, is it correct here?

Amichai in his poem reveals how on Yom Kippur he went to the Old City in Jerusalem instead of going to the synagogue. He stayed in the Arab shop for some time. The little store reminds him of an open Ark, and he tells in his heart a very private pray.

Explanation:
Yes, remind is correct here. But you need to be consistent in your use of tenses: past or present, but not both. And I recommend that you get your text checked by a native speaker of English, because it contains other mistakes

agree  Yvonne Gallagher: well, I take the point about "reveals" but in the general context I think the past is preferable here

agree  Mark Nathan: Could be the present if he went to this Arab shop habitually
17 mins

agree  Tony M: Yes, I agree with Mark: the present tense isn't necessarily wrong here. And 'remind is fine, because it has the direct object 'him' + he is being reminded 'of' something, as i explained in a previous comment.
28 mins

agree  Robert Forstag: I also agree with Phil and others that the text here is riddled with mistakes.
30 mins

agree  Charles Davis: It could also be present for the same reason that "reveals" is present: the association with the Ark could belong to the time of writing the poem rather than the past time when he was there.
