NIST

English translation: NIST (Non-Interchangeable Screw Thread)

English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Instruments
English term or phrase: NIST
In a list of products that a company is authorized to import, under the "Ventilator & Accesories" section:

KIT, OPTION, HELIOX, DISS
KIT, OPTION, HELIOX, NIST
KIT, OPTION, HELIOX, AIR LQD
KIT, OPTION, HELIOX, MALE CISS
FLOW SENSOR ASSY, NEO, DISP, WYE

A lot of words are abbreviated to fit the table. From that list I am assuming that:
ASSY = Assembly
NEO = Neonatal (in other items they talk about adult and ped [=pediatric])
DISP = Disposable

I can't really figure out DISS, NIST, MALE CISS, WYE AND AIR LQD but I'm going to ask a separate question for each one of those. In this case, I need help figuring out what NIST means. Thanks!

Selected answer:NIST (Non-Interchangeable Screw Thread)
Explanation:
the NIST (Non-Interchangeable Screw Thread) or Diameter Index Safety System, DISS system for pipeline gases, which prevents piped gases from the wall being accidentally connected to the wrong inlet on the machine.

Non-interchangeable Screw-Threaded Connection (NIST)

These ensure that the gas services attach correctly to the anaesthetic machine. Thus each hose is fitted with a unique connector. The probes are gas specific and non-interchangeable. The nut has the same diameter and thread for all the gas services.
