English translation: lacking in passion / effort / presence / commitment

English term or phrase: phoned in
Single-stroke blitzes on the snare and sweeps across the toms kick off “Strangulation Chair”; flammed cymbal accents pop on “Caged … Contorted”; breakdowns are slimily behind the beat on “Followed Home Then Killed.” Torture possesses the kind of dynamics that make Eviceration’s parts feel phoned in.

It's about Cannibal Corpse, a death metal band, and their recent album Torture.
I can't really understand what this phrase snands for - please advise!

dubbed

Explanation:
i believe silviamg's reference is on target for this context.

this would imply that the sound of the track does not have a natural feel to it, that parts were dubbed, edited into the arrangement, almost as an afterthought... the music has a "sampled" feel, it doesn't sound live or at least not as if recorded directly from actual playing or performing.
