English term or phrase: Water-rickers
Hello :) I am reviewing a Polish translation of "My Sixty Years on the Plains Trapping, Trading, and Indian Fighting" by William Hamilton, first published in 1905. The translator did not know how to translate the name of this American tribe as it can only be found in this book. I suspect it may be a name trappers used for some tribe or a spelling mistake. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated :)

Many people even to this day believe the Comanches to be a tribe distinct from others. It is not so, for they belong to the Shoshone family, as do also the Utahs, Pah Utes, and Water-rickers, who principally lived on the Great American Desert or its border.

Explanation:
As this issue is connected with Poland, I think, it must be seen in the reference to the Polish perspectives. As far as the Polish perspective is concerned, it seems connected with the Ricker family which started the business of water.

Example sentence(s):
  • Under Hiram\'s guidance, Poland Spring grew modestly as a hostelry, but he was instrumental in publicizing and promoting the supposed efficacy of the waters. Commercial sales of the water began in 1859 and grew to 5000 barrels by 1870.
  • Poland Spring... was in need of a year round nurse and...persuaded Miss [Jane] Jeffreys to accept the job and it was there that she met Alvan Bolster Ricker...whose wife, Cora Saunders Ricker, had passed away. She married Mr. Ricker September 3, 1925.\
