English term or phrase: out of the one thing
Read the passage in Luke 10:38-42:
"Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

Instead of just leaving Martha in the bondage of distractibility, worry, and stress, Jesus took the peace that Mary was enjoying and opened it up for Martha. He says, as it were, "Martha, here is the secret. Sit at my feet like Mary is doing. That is what will give focus to your life. That is what you really need. You need to deal with the many things ***out of the one thing***, not let the may things push away the one thing."

with reference to / on the basis of the most important thing

Explanation:
In Spanish, this concept might be translated as:

con referencia a lo más primordial [o fundamental] de todo

*******

Of course, the reference here is to faith in Jesus as the Christ.

in light of the one thing, God.

Explanation:
You need to live your life and deal with everything it entails in light of the one thing, that is, God. It means the one thing is the context for all your actions and that the many actions must not be contrary to God or overshadow Him but be carried out in light of Him, or serving Him.
