Explanation:
The boom on a sailing boat is the part to which the bottom of the mainsail is attached. Off to port is out to the left. If the boom is well out (to the left in this case) then the boat has the wind coming from somewhere on the right rear quarter. Wikipedia has some pictures.

Explanation:
