English term or phrase: help to name the white spot on the rear side of the roe deer
Does anyone know if the white spot on the rear side of the roe deer have a specific name in English. This could be some hunting jargon... In Polish it is called the 'mirror' and I'm trying to find out if there is an English equivalent term

Explanation:
I don't know if there's a more specific name than this one, though.

The Roe Deer is a relatively small deer, with a body length of 95-135 cm (3.1 - 4.4 ft), a shoulder height of 65-75 cm (2.1 - 2.5 ft), and a weight of 15-30 kg (33-66 lb). It has rather short, erect antlers and a reddish body with a grey face. Its hide is golden red in summer, darkening to brown or even black in winter, with lighter undersides and a ***white rump patch***

agree  Katalin Sandor: This is what my Hungarian-English hunting dictionary says (rump patch or target - the latter sounds rather sinister - or naughty? :-)/Right. That's where naughty comes to mind. (No Google hits, anyway, so not a likely canditate)

-> Thanks for the confirmation. "Target", to my layperson's ears, sounds like that's where the hunter would want to shoot the deer, which doesn't seem to make much sense if it's on the rump.

flag of the white-tailed deer

Explanation:
This is from a Canadian site:

The graceful white-tailed deer Odocoileus virginianus is well known to most North Americans. Hunters and nonhunters alike recognize the animal by its habit of flourishing its tail over its back, revealing a stark white underside and white buttocks. This "flag" of the white-tailed deer is often glimpsed as the high spirited animal dashes away from people. The tail has a broad base and is almost a foot long. When lowered, it is brown with a white fringe.
