I don't think this is right - there are very few hits for this in English and the references there are seem to be written by non-natives. It appears in a zooarchaeology text in a section describing marks left on bones from defleshing activities:

These incisions, which on some occasions are sawed, are found on the dorsal and lateral sides of the ribs, mainly in the metaphysic zone and on the medial area of the bones.
