Hi, actually, it did help with context. I think my initial response was correct. H is quizzing (the teacher) about fertility treatment, and the quiz had been interrupted earlier. It makes more sense now, though. I first thought he was just quizzing a friend. See my note on your previous question, by the way.

I don't know if this would be of any help, but here is the original for the translation "I don't know whether I passed the test"), coming right after the sentence we are going on about.

Well, I think it would not help if i gave you the preceding sentence, because the researcher who wrote the essay was just quoting briefly what the student had said. The preceding sentence, anyway, is:

My last blurb became a bit repetitive. But the point was that whatever had been said, it had been interrupted in the barn, and was now being continued. If he was taking a test, the word used should have been "tenttiään".

Hi Diana. Could you give me the preceding sentence? Was he taking the exam in the stable? On your current text, I would convey it along the lines of "On the way home, H continued the fertilization treatment quiz that had been interrupted in the barn" - or "..., picked up the interrupted quiz on fertilization treatment that had been interrupted in the barn." Depends how literal you want to be.

So could the sentence meaning be conveyed as follows:
"On the way back home, H went on about the uninterrupted quizzing on fertility treatment in the stable." ("I don't know whether i passed the test - he continued")

I think quizzing suits the sentence fine, you are right there... What do you say?
