discussion threads Explanation: "Juoni" is not the same as "juonne". "Juonne" refers to a discussion thread that can be defined as one topic under discussion by a group. It is a single focused topic, in most cases, and all comments concerning the topic are listed with it. Reference: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-discussion-thread.htm |

Extraordinary subplots of the discussion Explanation: I have great difficulties to explain what ‘sivujuonne’ is and even greater difficulties to say it in English, but I try. Sivujuonne is not quite ‘secondary theme’, it may be nearer to ‘subplot’, but not quite. In general, sivujuonne is not part of the official agenda of the discussion. It can appear during the discussion and it can develop in random directions. For example, when discussing the future arrangement of the company headquarters there may appear sivunjuonteita like some people refusing to work in the same room or some definitely wanting rooms with east/west/north/southward windows. ‘Extraordinary subplot’ might be one possible translation. |
