"....in honour of...." Explanation: The term "nimikkopäivä" is very rarely used. There is no direct English translation. Without a proper context (such as : where is this word used), it's difficult to provide a definite translation. However, the meaning can be interpreted as : "a day in honour of something (an event) or an institution, or an individual" For example : The United Nations declared that July 18th as the "Nelson Mandela International Day" It can therefore be said that July 18th is Mandela's "nimikkopäivä" |
