-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 33 mins (2013-10-17 16:37:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "Partie supérieure, arrondie, d'une élévation de terrain" cf. http://www.cnrtl.fr/lexicographie/croupe -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 hrs (2013-10-18 08:19:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Aan "Asker": een hoogvlakte moet zogezegd vlak zijn.

-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 uren (2013-10-18 15:29:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Plutarchus en de vossen wisten het wel, ‘croupe’ = ‘colline’ = ‘heuvel’: « ORCHALIDE [La Croupe], Orchalides Tumulus, Ὀρχαλίδηs λόφοs, croupe ou colline, dont il est parlé dans Plutarque. » (http://books.google.fr/books?id=8d4RAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA375&lpg=PA... “And it is said that the Thebans also, during the Peloponnesian war, received an oracle at the sanctuary of Ismenus which indicated beforehand not only the battle at Delium, but also this battle at Haliartus, thirty years later. It ran as follows:— "When thou huntest the wolf with the spear, watch closely the border, Orchalides, too, the hill which foxes never abandon." Now by "border," the god meant the region about Delium, where Boeotia is conterminous with Attica; and by Orchalides, the hill which is now called Alopecus, or Fox-hill, in the parts of Haliartus which stretch towards Mount Helicon.” (http://archive.is/9Q02) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 dagen16 uren (2013-10-20 08:20:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Het « paysage de plateaux dénudés avec des croupes rondes et douces », zoals dat te zien is op de foto van de Monts de Ferez waarnaar hierboven verwezen wordt, zou in het Nederlands dus wellicht als volgt kunnen worden omschreven: ‘landschap van kale plateaus met licht glooiende heuvels’ (geen golvende hoogvlaktes of ronde heuveltoppen). » (http://henrysuter.ch/glossaires/topoC1.html) |
