French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space / Final stages of airplane construction
French term or phrase: mise en croix finale
I think this refers to the final 'mounting' or 'setting' of the wings from what I can gather from French sites. It is one of the last steps done before a new plane takes its maiden flight. I would dearly love the EN version to include the word cross as it will help me translate a pun on the word crucial that is used further down in the French text! (A girl can hope).

final assembly

Explanation:
Here is a very good article explaining exactly what happens during the "finaly assembly" of an aircraft: https://www.britannica.com/technology/aerospace-industry/Fin...

"Major assembly steps include the additions of nose and tail sections, wings, engines, and landing gear. On completion of work at the last station, the airplane is rolled out of the assembly plant to the flight line for its production flight test, a process that involves a thorough checkout of specified performance."

The term appears on other sites as well:

Correction of my typo: "final assembly" and not "finaly assembly"
